Hi I’m Sharline,
author of Switched On. 

I was born in Wellington, New Zealand and live now in the coastal community of Beachlands. I have been married to Mark for over 40 years, and we have four married children, and five grandchildren.

My childhood was lived as a missionary kid in Zambia, Solomon Islands, and Haiti. From a young age I started my teaching career. I taught my dolls, my baby sister, and my first classroom was a Sunday School room of 7 and 8 year old children at St Andrews Church when I was 16 years old.

I graduated from Auckland Teacher’s Training College in 1984 and taught five year olds for over 25 years. It has been a pleasure to teach children how to read and write. I have continued teaching in Children’s Church all my life. It has been a joy to see children deciding to follow Jesus, get Switched On and grow in the things of God.

My favourite Bible story is Daniel in the Lions Den. My favourite Sunday School song is My God is so Big (with actions). My favourite verse is 1 Corinthians 2:9 “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind conceived, what God has prepared for those who love Him.”

I remember praying and asking God to come into my life at a conference when I was 6 years old. The greatest thing in the world is knowing that God loves me (no matter what), God made me (just the way I am) and God knows me (and has a plan for my life).

My best times are travelling with my husband, playing and reading books with my grandchildren, having my kids over for dinner, and baking yummy treats for my friends.

Jesus said "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
